| Rubio, Antillon triumph! WBC #3 middleweight Marco Antonio Rubio (42-4-1, 37 KOs) brutalized Freddie Cuevas (26-10-1, 17 KOs) for five rounds and the one-sided bout was halted after the fifth on Friday night at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading, PA. Rubio is considered the frontrunner to face middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, should Pavlik defeat Gary Lockett tomorrow night in Atlantic City.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WBC #1 super featherweight Urbano Antillon (23-0, 16 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO over Jose Leonardo Cruz (12-3-2, 8 KOs) for six rounds before the bout was stopped after round six. Cruz scored a flash knockdown in round two, but was taking a beating at the end with his left eye swollen shut. Still the ultra game Cruz was quite irrate when the bout was halted. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cruiserweight Julio Matthews (4-0, 3 KOs) blew away Josh Harris (1-2, 1 KOs) in round one.
